Opzegtermijn is the notice period required to end a rental agreement, for the tenant and sometimes with different rules for the landlord.
Since 1 July 2024, indefinite contracts are the default. Temporary contracts are allowed only in narrow statutory exceptions (max 2 years self-contained / 5 years room). A fixed-term offer without a valid exception may already be an indefinite tenancy. Unclear notice terms remain a common screening red flag; this glossary does not state separate landlord-notice minima beyond those temporary-contract rules.
