Tijdelijk huurcontract

A tijdelijk huurcontract is a fixed-term or temporary rental agreement with an agreed end date or limited duration.

Since 1 July 2024, open-ended contracts are the default. A temporary contract — always with an end date, at most 2 years — is allowed only in listed situations, such as study in another municipality, renovation of your own home, a separation or an emergency. A fixed term outside those situations does not by itself end the tenancy.
